I haven't tried those kind of equipments though I'd like to hear if anyone has yet.

However, it's not bad to have success in meditating in noisy places, then when you go to a silent one, you will so much cherish that silence even more !

I was thinking with the equipment these can be aids to simulating a dark retreat or a cave retreat, depending on how you schedule your free-time. I'm also considering silent walking meditation with noise cancellation headphones... but then again I can use cotton plugs too.

Be sure to practice in a uncongested neighborhood, little traffic and safe!

I live in a very small city (the S in my city name is not exactly Shangai). I have a little room where I can do my own dark retreat with almost complete silence. It's a very powerful experience.

If you live around a buddhist place you can loan a retreat cabin for very low price to do a retreat of some days.

In house you need something to make the room or space daker during the day, you can use sleeping blinders and something in your ears to stop to much audio "input". I used some tools used in industries to protect the ears, but they hurt my ears...

I agree eagles, sadly there is no buddhist monastery here except for Sokka Gakai which is pretty much a protestant-like Buddhism.

I still find the equipment pretty useful, it should be used for short term use only as long term use can be harmful (earplugs and all)

A cabin in the woods would be awesome. A cave in a mountain, or some ancient temple could be even better, because of the very condensed earth element usually found there, along with extended magical practices done there for so many years, which is great for meditation.

faptaste, I can't see your link

There are many techniques you can use for meditation. I do not use equipments for this purpose, just the beating of my heart, and it works.
